Colour and Meditation

I’ve loved colour ever since I was a little kid. Colour fills me with joy- kingfishers, peacocks, tropical fish, oceans and sunsets – it’s all so magical!

But why do colours affect us emotionally? What is colour, really?

Every colour we see corresponds to a specific bandwidth of energy. Remember that classic physics experiment where white light passes through a glass prism and splits into a rainbow of colours? The colours always appear in the same order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. This is the same sequence we see in a natural rainbow—and it’s also the order associated with the body’s chakras, from red at the base to violet at the crown.

It’s not magic or randomness—it’s science. As we move up the colour spectrum, each colour carries a higher frequency of vibration. That shift in energy might explain why colours evoke such different emotions: red may stir passion, blue brings calm, and purple suggests wisdom.

Colour = energy = feeling.

Each colour holds a unique energetic signature, which in turn sparks different emotional responses in us.

Through meditation, we become more attuned to these subtler energies. We start to notice them more clearly and connect with even higher vibrational frequencies. This is part of why people meditate—to tap into a vast reservoir of inner wellbeing. With regular practice, we begin to experience deep, embodied bliss.

When we learn to be fully present in our bodies—feeling our moment-to-moment experience—we open the door to profound physical and emotional wellbeing. From that grounded place, our thoughts begin to shift naturally, and the way we live begins to transform.
